Ensemble Klang, founded in 2006 by Peter Koerner, is a Cologne-based new music ensemble renowned for its intensely focused and virtuosic performances of contemporary classical music. Originally conceived as a project-based group, it quickly evolved into a fixed formation of twelve internationally acclaimed musicians.

The ensemble distinguishes itself through a commitment to extended techniques and a highly collaborative approach with composers. Klang’s repertoire spans a wide range, from solo pieces to large-scale orchestral works, frequently premiering compositions by established and emerging voices like Helmut Lachenmann, Rebecca Saunders, and Tristan Murail.

Ensemble Klang has garnered significant critical acclaim and numerous awards, including the German Music Critics’ Prize (Deutscher Musikkritikerpreis) in 2018 for its interpretation of György Ligeti's *Ramifications*. They are frequent guests at leading international festivals including the Wittener Tage für neue Kammermusik, Donaueschingen Musiktage, and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival. Beyond performance, Klang actively engages in educational projects and fosters dialogue surrounding contemporary music practice. Their recordings are released on labels such as Kairos.
