Ella & the Bossa Beat is a Los Angeles-based musical project led by vocalist Ella Portillo, celebrated for its vibrant and authentic take on Brazilian bossa nova. Formed in 2016, the group quickly gained recognition for meticulously recreating the classic sounds of 1960s Rio de Janeiro, while injecting a fresh, contemporary energy.

Portillo’s vocal style is frequently compared to Astrud Gilberto and João Gilberto, praised for its delicate phrasing and nuanced interpretation. The band features seasoned musicians specializing in traditional Brazilian instrumentation – guitar, bass, drums, and percussion – delivering a remarkably faithful yet engaging sound.

Ella & the Bossa Beat released their debut album, *Wish Me More*, in 2019 to critical acclaim, receiving airplay on influential stations like KCRW. They've since toured extensively across the US, performing at prominent jazz and Latin music festivals including the Long Beach Jazz Festival. Their music has been featured in numerous film and television placements, notably on HBO’s *Euphoria*. The project consistently aims to introduce a new generation to the beauty and sophistication of bossa nova while honoring its rich legacy.
