Edinburgh Festival Chorus is a highly-regarded, professional choir founded in 1983 specifically to perform with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra (SCO) during the Edinburgh International Festival. Initially formed at the request of conductor Richard Armstrong, the chorus quickly established itself as integral to the festival’s operatic and choral presentations.

Unlike many permanent choirs, Edinburgh Festival Chorus is project-based, drawing its singers from across Scotland and beyond through rigorous annual auditions. This allows for a consistently fresh and dynamic vocal sound.
