DOMi & JD BECK are a Los Angeles-based musical duo comprising keyboardist DOMi Louna and drummer J D Beck. They rose to prominence through viral videos showcasing their incredibly tight, complex, and often humorous instrumental performances on platforms like YouTube and TikTok, beginning around 2019. DOMi, a French native, studied at Berklee College of Music before relocating to LA. Beck, self-taught, gained recognition for his prodigious drumming skills from a young age.
Their style blends jazz fusion, hip-hop, electronic music, and funk with a distinctly modern sensibility. Characterized by intricate harmonies, rapid-fire improvisation, and unconventional song structures, their music defies easy categorization. They’ve collaborated with prominent artists including Anderson .Paak (who signed them to Aftermath Entertainment/Interscope Records), Thundercat, Mac Miller (posthumously on “Rollin’ & Controllin’”), and Ariana Grande.
In 2022, they released their critically acclaimed debut album *NOT TiGHT*, which garnered widespread praise for its innovative sound and musicianship. The album earned them a Grammy Award nomination for Best Contemporary Instrumental Album in 2023.
