Experience Dmitry Masleev
Dmitry Masleev is a Russian pianist renowned for his intensely focused and poetic interpretations, particularly of Romantic and 20th/21st-century repertoire. Born in Sverdlovsk (now Yekaterinburg) in 1985, he studied at the Moscow Conservatory with Sergey Dorensky and later with Michele Campanella in Italy.
Masleev gained international recognition after winning the I International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2017), a competition not affiliated with the famous International Chopin Competition. This victory launched his global career, leading to performances with major orchestras including the Mariinsky Orchestra, the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, and the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin.
His playing is characterized by a remarkable technical command combined with a deeply sensitive musicality; critics often praise his nuanced dynamic control and profound understanding of structure. He frequently performs Rachmaninoff, Prokofiev, and Chopin, alongside contemporary composers like Nikolai Kapustin – whose works he has championed through critically acclaimed recordings. Masleev’s discography includes albums dedicated to Chopin, Rachmaninoff transcriptions, and Kapustin’s piano concertos, all receiving positive reviews for their originality and artistry.
