Deborah Lukalu, born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, is a highly respected keyboardist, vocalist, and composer renowned for her unique blend of Congolese rumba, jazz, and gospel influences. Initially gaining prominence as a member of the influential Congolese band Les Nubians alongside her sister Pamela Lukalu, she contributed significantly to their distinctive sound from 1996-2017.

Following her time with Les Nubians, Lukalu embarked on a successful solo career. Her music is characterized by intricate keyboard arrangements, soulful vocals often sung in Lingala, French and English, and a deeply spiritual undercurrent. She frequently incorporates traditional African rhythms and instrumentation into her compositions.

Lukalu has released several critically acclaimed albums including *Sun Power* (2018) and *Mambo!* (2023), earning praise for her musicianship and evocative songwriting. She’s toured extensively internationally, performing at major festivals like WOMAD and collaborating with artists across diverse genres.
