David Bowie (born David Robert Jones, 1947-2016) was a profoundly influential English singer, songwriter, and actor. Emerging in 1969 with “Space Oddity,” he rapidly became a leading figure in glam rock, continually reinventing his sound and persona throughout his five-decade career. Albums like *The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars* (1972), *Hunky Dory* (1971), and *Low* (1977 – part of the “Berlin Trilogy”) showcased his experimental approach, blending art rock, electronic music, and theatrical performance.

Bowie’s chameleonic style – encompassing Ziggy Stardust’s androgynous alien look, Aladdin Sane’s striking makeup, and the sophisticated Thin White Duke – challenged conventional notions of gender and identity.
