Darren Johnston is a Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, best known as one half of the indie-folk duo, Hey Ocean!. Beginning his musical journey in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Johnston co-founded the band in 2008 alongside Ash Thayer. Hey Ocean! gained prominence with their self-titled debut album in 2010, lauded for its intricate vocal harmonies and atmospheric instrumentation.

Following Hey Ocean!’s indefinite hiatus in 2014, Johnston embarked on a solo career.
