Experience Craig Claxton
Craig Claxton is a British multi-instrumentalist, composer, and producer renowned for his work spanning post-punk, experimental electronic music, and sound design. Initially gaining prominence as a founding member of the influential 1980s post-punk band The Pop Group, Claxton’s distinctive bass playing and sonic experimentation were central to their abrasive, politically charged sound.
Following The Pop Group’s initial disbandment, Claxton embarked on a prolific solo career, releasing albums like *Scarred* (1983) and *Aspects of Sound* (1985) that explored dub, industrial textures, and avant-garde composition. He’s consistently pushed boundaries with unconventional instrumentation and studio techniques.
Claxton has collaborated extensively with artists including Björk (co-writing and performing on *Debut*), Brian Eno, and David Byrne. Beyond music production for others, he's also created sound installations and scores for film & theatre. A reunion with The Pop Group in 2010 led to further albums and international touring. His work continues to influence contemporary artists across multiple genres, solidifying his status as a pioneering figure in alternative music.
