Experience Collegium 1704
Collegium 1704 is a Czech early music ensemble founded in 2004 by violinist and conductor Václav Luks. The group specializes in historically informed performance practice of Baroque music, particularly focusing on composers active in Bohemia and Central Europe. Their repertoire extends beyond well-known figures like Bach and Handel to rediscover and champion the works of composers such as Jan Dismas Zelenka, Adam Michna z Otradovic, and Francesco Bartolomeo Conti.
Collegium 1704 is renowned for its vibrant, emotionally engaging performances characterized by dynamic phrasing and meticulous research. They frequently collaborate with leading vocalists including Magdalena Kožená, whom Luks married in 2016.
The ensemble has garnered international acclaim, performing at major venues and festivals including the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Konzerthaus Vienna, and the BBC Proms. They’ve released numerous critically lauded recordings on the Accent Records label, notably complete cycles of Zelenka’s sacred music and Bach's *St Matthew Passion*. In 2018, their recording of Bach's *Mass in B Minor* received a Gramophone Editor’s Choice award.
