Clara-Jumi Kang is a celebrated Australian-Korean violinist recognized for her dynamic performances and insightful interpretations. Born in 1989, she gained international attention winning the Young Concert Artists International Auditions in 2003 at age 14, launching a career encompassing solo appearances with major orchestras worldwide including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Philadelphia Orchestra, and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Kang’s repertoire is broad, ranging from core classical works – featuring frequent performances of Paganini’s 24 Caprices – to contemporary compositions. She's a passionate advocate for new music, commissioning and premiering pieces by composers like Unsuk Chin. A graduate of The Juilliard School where she studied with Itzhak Perlman, her playing is often described as possessing both technical brilliance and emotional depth.

Notably, Kang was awarded the ABC Young Performers Award in 2005 and has received critical acclaim for her recordings, including albums featuring works by Bach and Ysaÿe. She continues to tour extensively as a soloist and chamber musician, solidifying her reputation as one of Australia’s leading violinists.
