Christoph Prégardien is a highly esteemed German tenor renowned for his interpretations of Lieder, particularly those of Schubert, Schumann, and Brahms. Born in 1965, Prégardien initially studied medicine before dedicating himself fully to vocal performance, graduating from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg. He rose to prominence in the late 1980s and early 1990s, quickly establishing a reputation for clarity of diction, expressive phrasing, and a warm, intelligent tone.
While capable in Mozart and Baroque repertoire, Prégardien’s core strength lies in the German Romantic tradition.
