Christina Apostolopoulos is a Canadian vocalist, composer, and improviser specializing in microtonal vocal music. Rooted in Byzantine chant traditions inherited through her Greek family, she expands vocal technique beyond Western equal temperament, exploring just intonation and extended vocalizations. Apostolopoulos holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from Columbia University, where she researched the historical performance practice of *psaltic* art – the ancient form of Byzantine choral singing.

Her work often incorporates live looping and electronic processing to create dense, layered soundscapes. She’s released several albums including *Kyrie*, a critically acclaimed exploration of Byzantine hymnody reimagined through microtonal improvisation (Room40, 2021), and *Echos*, which further investigates the sonic possibilities of her unique approach.
