Chico Romano (born Francisco Romano in São Paulo, Brazil, 1967) is a highly respected Brazilian musician, composer, and arranger renowned for his unique blend of samba, bossa nova, jazz, and MPB (Música Popular Brasileira). Initially gaining prominence as a drummer with prominent artists like Vinicius de Moraes and João Bosco in the 1980s and 90s, Romano transitioned to a successful solo career in 2003 with the release of “Samba Carioca.”

His style is characterized by sophisticated harmonic arrangements, nuanced percussion, and a warm, intimate vocal delivery. Romano doesn’t shy away from incorporating elements of choro and other Brazilian rhythms into his compositions. He's released several critically acclaimed albums including "Tristeza do Jeca Tatu" (2014), a tribute to rural Brazil, and “Palco” (2018), showcasing live performances.

Romano has collaborated with a diverse range of artists including Chico Buarque and Lenine. He consistently tours internationally, performing at major jazz festivals and concert halls. Beyond performing, he’s an active educator, leading workshops on Brazilian music and rhythm.
