Cesar Puente is a highly respected, multi-instrumentalist and session musician renowned for his extensive work within the Latin music industry, particularly in salsa, Latin jazz, and tropical genres. Born in New York City, Puente carries a significant musical legacy as the son of iconic bandleader Tito Puente. While initially hesitant to directly follow in his father’s footsteps, Cesar eventually embraced his musical heritage, becoming a sought-after percussionist and arranger.

He’s notably collaborated with artists like Rubén Blades, Willie Colón, Celia Cruz, and Fania All-Stars, contributing significantly to their recordings and live performances. Beyond percussion (timbales being a specialty), Puente is proficient on piano, trombone, and vocals. He led his own band, Cesar Puente & His Orchestra, releasing albums showcasing both traditional arrangements and innovative interpretations of Latin standards.

Puente's style blends technical virtuosity with a deep understanding of Afro-Cuban rhythms and harmonic sophistication.
