Experience Cecil L. Recchia

Cecil L. Recchia (born October 12, 1944, in New York City) is a prolific American composer, arranger, and conductor primarily known for his extensive work in television and film scoring. Though not a household name for mainstream audiences, Recchia boasts a career spanning over five decades with over 300 credits. He initially gained prominence as a staff composer for CBS Television in the 1970s, contributing significantly to series like *The Waltons*, *Hawaii Five-O*, and *Magnum, P.I.* – often working alongside his mentor, Jerry Goldsmith.

Recchia’s style blends orchestral traditions with jazz and pop sensibilities, creating scores that are both dramatic and emotionally resonant. He frequently employs distinctive melodic themes and rich harmonic textures. Beyond television, he scored films including *Meteor* (1979) and *The Black Stallion* (additional music).

A dedicated educator, Recchia served as Professor of Film Scoring at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music for over twenty years.
