Experience Cassie Kinoshi

Cassie Kinoshi is a British composer, arranger, and alto saxophonist rapidly gaining recognition for her innovative contributions to contemporary jazz and experimental music. Born in London to a Japanese mother and British father, Kinoshi initially trained classically on the piano before transitioning to saxophone. She is the founder and artistic director of the groundbreaking septet, SEED Ensemble, formed in 2016 while studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

SEED Ensemble’s debut album, *Resolve* (2019), won the Jazz FM Digital Award and received a nomination for the Mercury Prize. Kinoshi’s compositions blend elements of jazz improvisation with influences from Afrobeat, electronic music, and contemporary classical forms. Her work often explores themes of identity, community, and social commentary.

Beyond SEED Ensemble, Kinoshi has collaborated with artists like Nubya Garcia, Sons of Kemet, and Shabaka Hutchings. She was awarded the Ivors Academy Composer Award for Jazz Composition in 2023 for her piece "Flow State," demonstrating critical acclaim for her individual compositional voice.
