Caro Emerald (born Caroline van der Leeuw, March 29, 1980) is a Dutch singer and songwriter who achieved international success with her retro-inspired jazz-pop sound. Initially a session singer and jingle vocalist, Emerald signed with Grand Indie label in 2007. Her breakthrough came with the release of her debut album, *Deleted Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor* (2009), which blended 1950s jazz, swing, and lounge music with contemporary production. The album topped the Dutch charts and achieved platinum status in several European countries.

Emerald’s signature style features a distinctive vocal delivery and meticulously crafted arrangements reminiscent of artists like Billie Holiday and Eartha Kitt, but infused with modern electronic elements. Subsequent albums – *A Highly Dramatic Entrance* (2012) and *Emerald* (2015) – continued this successful formula, yielding hit singles like “A Night Like This” and “Stuck.”

She has received multiple Echo Awards (the German equivalent of a Grammy) and sold over two million albums worldwide.
