Blake Pouliot is a Canadian guitarist and composer rapidly gaining recognition within the contemporary jazz scene. Born in 1993, Pouliot demonstrated prodigious talent early on, studying at Humber College and later earning a Master's degree from the Manhattan School of Music. He’s notably mentored by renowned guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Pouliot’s style blends intricate harmonic concepts with a lyrical, often melancholic melodic sensibility, drawing influence from both modern jazz innovators and classical music. He's known for his distinctive tone and sophisticated improvisational approach.
He released his debut album, *Twist*, in 2018 to critical acclaim, followed by *Right Where You Are* (2020) and *Steady* (2023), all on Whirlwind Recordings. *Steady* garnered significant praise, including features in DownBeat Magazine and Jazzwise. Pouliot frequently tours internationally, performing solo and with ensembles, and has collaborated with artists like Linda May Han Oh and Seamus Blake. He’s a two-time winner of the Montreal Jazz Festival’s Emerging Talent Award (2016 & 2017) solidifying his position as a rising star.
