Bill Charlap is a highly acclaimed jazz pianist known for his elegant and sophisticated style. Born on October 15, 1966 in New York City, Charlap comes from a musical family - his father was a Broadway composer and his mother was a singer.

Charlap began playing piano at a young age and quickly developed into a prodigious talent. He studied classical music before discovering jazz, which became his true passion. In addition to his recording career, Charlap is also an esteemed educator and serves as the artistic director of New York City's Jazz in July festival at the 92nd Street Y.
