Bertie Baigent (born 1935) is a British composer, arranger, and keyboardist renowned for his extensive contributions to film, television, and popular music. Beginning his career as a session musician in the 1960s, Baigent quickly established himself as a versatile arranger, working with artists like The Rolling Stones (arranging strings on *Their Satanic Majesties Request*), The Walker Brothers, and Dusty Springfield.

He transitioned into film scoring in the 1970s, collaborating frequently with director Michael Winner on films including *The Mechanic*, *Death Wish*, and *The Big Sleep*. His style blends orchestral arrangements with elements of jazz, pop, and sometimes electronic instrumentation, often characterized by dramatic tension and memorable melodic themes.

Beyond film work, Baigent composed extensively for television series like *Special Branch* and *Hazell*. He also released several solo albums showcasing his compositional skills. Notably, he revived interest in the work of British composer Joseph Horovitz through recordings and performances. Baigent’s discography demonstrates a prolific career spanning six decades of diverse musical output – cementing his position as a respected figure within British music.
