Beginning his musical journey playing for gospel artists like Edwin Hawkins & Walter Hawkins, Tankard transitioned to a successful solo career in the 1990s. He’s renowned for his signature sound – a blend of contemporary jazz, R&B, and gospel influences – characterized by layered keyboards, melodic improvisation, and often upbeat tempos.

Tankard has released over fifteen albums as a solo artist, achieving significant chart success with titles like *Full Tank* (2002) and *Power of Ten* (2013), both reaching #1 on the Billboard Contemporary Jazz Charts.
