Experience Ben Sidran

Ben Sidran (1943-2019) was an American jazz pianist, singer, songwriter, and producer whose career spanned six decades. Initially gaining recognition as the pianist for The Rolling Stones on their 1971 *Sticky Fingers* album and subsequent tours, Sidran transitioned to a critically acclaimed solo career deeply rooted in jazz but incorporating elements of blues, rock, and soul.

He released over 30 albums, beginning with *Cool Waters* in 1972. Sidran’s style was characterized by his distinctive vocals – often spoken-word influenced – sophisticated harmonic arrangements, and lyrical exploration of everyday life and existential themes. He wasn’t simply a performer; he was a musical storyteller.

Beyond his own recordings, Sidran was a prolific producer, working with artists like Diana Ross and Tom Scott. He hosted the nationally syndicated radio program "Sidran's Sunday Night" for many years, further cementing his role as a tastemaker and commentator on American music. His final album, *Picture Show*, arrived in 2018 to widespread praise, showcasing a lifetime dedicated to innovative and thoughtful musicianship. He received multiple Wisconsin Area Music Industry Awards throughout his career.
