Ben Perowsky is a highly respected American drummer renowned for his versatile and innovative approach to jazz and improvised music. Born in 1963, Perowsky’s career spans over four decades, establishing him as a prominent figure in New York City’s creative music scene. He initially gained recognition in the late 1980s and early 90s through collaborations with influential artists like John Zorn, prominently featuring on Zorn's *The Big Gundown* and numerous other projects.

Perowsky’s style is characterized by its rhythmic complexity, dynamic sensitivity, and textural exploration – moving fluidly between powerfully driving grooves and delicate, nuanced playing. He's equally comfortable navigating free improvisation as he is supporting structured compositions. Beyond Zorn, he’s collaborated extensively with musicians including Marc Ribot, Dave Douglas, and Uri Caine.

He leads several of his own ensembles, including the Ben Perowsky Trio and Early/Late/Modern which explore diverse musical territories. A dedicated educator, Perowsky has taught at institutions like The New School and privately mentored numerous drummers.
