Experience Arun Ghosh
Arun Ghosh is a highly acclaimed British-Indian clarinetist and composer, forging a unique path within contemporary jazz and South Asian classical music. Born in the UK, Ghosh initially trained classically on the clarinet before immersing himself in jazz improvisation, earning a first-class degree from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. He’s renowned for his virtuosic technique and emotionally resonant playing, often incorporating raga-inspired melodic structures and complex rhythmic cycles into his compositions.
Ghosh leads the Arun Ghosh Quintet, consistently receiving praise for albums like “A Room Full of Spaceships” (2013), nominated for the Mercury Prize, and “But Where Are You Now?” (2018), which explored themes of displacement and identity. He’s collaborated with diverse artists including Soweto Kinch and completed commissions for BBC Radio 3 and London Jazz Festival.
Beyond performance, Ghosh is a dedicated educator, holding positions at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and leading workshops internationally. His work consistently challenges genre boundaries, earning him recognition as a significant voice in innovative British jazz and a champion of cross-cultural musical dialogue. He continues to tour extensively and release new material.
