Experience A.R. Rahman

A.R. Rahman, born Dilip Kumar, is an Indian composer, singer-songwriter, music producer and multi-instrumentalist widely regarded as one of India’s most influential musicians. He initially gained recognition composing scores for Tamil films in the 1990s, revolutionizing the industry with his integration of electronic sounds and orchestral arrangements – a departure from traditional film music. His breakthrough came with *Roja* (1992), earning him a National Film Award for Best Music Director.

Rahman achieved international prominence with *Bombay* (1995) and subsequently with Andrew Lloyd Webber’s *Bombay Dreams* (2002). He won two Academy Awards – Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“Jai Ho”) – for *Slumdog Millionaire* (2008), becoming the first Indian to win multiple Oscars.

His musical style blends Eastern classical music with electronic, Western classical, and jazz influences. Rahman has composed for films across multiple languages including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English, as well as stage productions.
