Experience Antonio Farao
Antonio Faraò (born July 14, 1958, in Cerignola, Italy) is a highly respected Italian jazz pianist and composer. He began playing professionally at age 16, quickly gaining recognition for his virtuosic technique and harmonic sophistication. Faraò’s early career involved extensive collaborations with American jazz masters visiting Italy, including Chet Baker, Lee Konitz, and Art Farmer – experiences that profoundly shaped his musical direction.
His style is rooted in the bebop tradition but incorporates elements of post-bop, modal jazz, and Italian melodic sensibility. Faraò is known for his lyrical improvisations and distinctive touch on the piano. He has led numerous trios and quartets throughout his career, releasing over twenty albums as a leader on labels like Splasc(h), Philology, and CAM Jazz.
Notable accomplishments include winning the Django d'Or award in 2003 (Italy’s premier jazz award) and consistently ranking among Italy’s leading jazz musicians. He frequently performs internationally at major jazz festivals and clubs. Faraò also dedicates time to education, holding workshops and masterclasses globally.
