Amla is a British singer-songwriter and producer, born Amelia Murray, whose work defies easy categorization, blending elements of electronic, trip-hop, jazz, and soul. Initially gaining recognition as one half of the duo Smoke City with Christian Vogel, she contributed vocals to their seminal 1997 album *Flying Machines*, noted for its atmospheric and downtempo sound.

Following Smoke City's disbandment, Amla embarked on a solo career marked by intensely personal and introspective songwriting. Her debut solo album, *Stray*, released in 2006, showcased her distinctive vocal style – often layered and processed – and established her as a unique voice within the electronic music landscape.

Further albums like *FGFC80* (2010) and *Pendulum* (2017) continued to explore themes of vulnerability and resilience through experimental production techniques. Amla’s music has been featured in film and television soundtracks, demonstrating its broad appeal. She's known for her intimate live performances, often incorporating looping and improvisation.
