Experience Alexis Lombre

Alexis Lombre is a French-American vocalist, composer, and improviser rapidly gaining recognition within contemporary jazz and experimental music circles. Born in Paris and based in New York City, Lombre’s work defies easy categorization, blending elements of jazz vocal traditions with free improvisation, electronic music processing, and spoken word.

She earned a Master of Music in Jazz Voice from Manhattan School of Music, studying with Theo Bleckmann. Lombre’s debut album, *The Blue Hour* (2023, Whirlwind Recordings), received widespread critical acclaim for its innovative vocal techniques and atmospheric compositions. Prior to this, she released the EP *Salt* (2019) showcasing her evolving sound.

Lombre frequently collaborates with prominent figures in avant-garde jazz including Anthony Braxton – notably appearing on his *Time Out Hues* project – and Mary Halvorson. Her performances emphasize extended vocal techniques, looping, and real-time effects processing creating richly textured sonic landscapes. She's been featured at venues like The Stone and Roulette Intermedium and has received support from the Jerome Foundation. Her work consistently explores themes of memory, identity, and the expressive potential of the human voice.
