Alexander Scheer is a German composer, arranger, and instrumentalist primarily known for his work with post-rock and experimental music. Born in 1978 in Backnang, Germany, he initially gained recognition as a guitarist and keyboardist for the influential post-rock band Balmorhea, contributing to their albums *A Constellation* (2007) and *Roads* (2009).

He frequently incorporates field recordings into his work, creating evocative soundscapes.
He has released several subsequent albums including *Fragmentarium* (2016), *While the Winds Rest* (2018), and *Guide* (2021), all on Erased Tapes. Scheer’s music has been featured in film and television soundtracks, including the documentary *Free Solo*. He actively tours internationally performing both solo piano concerts and with ensembles. His work is characterized by its atmospheric quality and minimalist approach to composition.
