Ádám Fischer is a Hungarian-Israeli conductor renowned for his deeply insightful and often historically informed interpretations of orchestral music. Born in Budapest in 1951, Fischer received early musical training from his father, cellist Dezső Fischer, and György Kurtág. He emigrated to Israel in 1958 following the Hungarian Revolution.

Fischer’s career spans decades, holding principal conductorships with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (1997-2003), the BBC National Orchestra of Wales (2006-2011), and currently serving as Chief Conductor of the Konzerthausorchester Berlin since 2019. He is particularly celebrated for his complete cycles of Beethoven and Brahms symphonies, lauded for their clarity and emotional depth.

Known for a meticulous approach to score study and a commitment to revealing the architecture within compositions, Fischer champions both standard repertoire and lesser-known works. His performances frequently emphasize chamber music sensibilities within the orchestral context. He has recorded extensively for labels like Channel Classics, receiving critical acclaim and awards for his recordings of Schubert, Bartók, and Mendelssohn amongst others.
