Absinto Orkestra is a French electro-swing band formed in 2008, originating from Montpellier. The group, spearheaded by multi-instrumentalist and composer Frédéric Asté, blends 1920s and 30s swing, jazz manouche, and Balkan melodies with modern electronic beats – specifically house and drum & bass. Their sound is characterized by energetic tempos, virtuosic instrumental performances (featuring violin, accordion, clarinet, and double bass prominently), and often incorporates samples from vintage recordings.
Absinto Orkestra gained significant recognition with their debut album *Monsoon d'Émotions* (2011), followed by *Ces Soirées Là* (2013) which featured the popular track "Oh Mon Amie." They’ve released several subsequent albums including *Suite Électrique* (2016) and *Tokyo-Montpellier Express* (2019), consistently touring internationally and performing at major festivals like Dour Festival and Les Vieilles Charrues.
The band’s music has been licensed for numerous commercials and media projects, further expanding their reach.
