Experience Aarhus Symfoniorkester

Aarhus Symfoniorkester (Aarhus Symphony Orchestra) is a Danish orchestra rooted in a history stretching back to 1924, originally founded as the *Aarhus Musikforenings Orkester* (Aarhus Music Society Orchestra). Based in Aarhus, Denmark’s second-largest city, the orchestra performs regularly at the Aarhus Concert Hall. Throughout its evolution, it has served as a vital cultural institution for the Jutland region.

The orchestra's repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary works, with a particular focus on Scandinavian composers like Nielsen and Sibelius. They frequently collaborate with internationally renowned soloists and conductors. Notably, they appointed Thomas Dausgaard as Chief Conductor in 2012, a period marked by critically acclaimed recordings for Chandos Records focusing on works by Rued Langgaard and exploring lesser-known orchestral pieces.

Currently led by Principal Guest Conductor Nicholas Collon since 2023, Aarhus Symfoniorkester maintains a commitment to both traditional orchestral performance and innovative programming. They are known for their educational outreach programs and active engagement with the local community.
